Pharaohs Society, Inc. is a national high school brotherhood-sisterhood organization. It is a social club pursuant to 501(c)(7) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Pharaohs Society, Inc. does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, gender, or gender-identity. Any high school sophomore, junior, or senior with a cumulative grade point average of 2.60 or higher is eligible for membership. Candidates may be denied acceptance if they have a school disciplinary record within the past 12 months or have been convicted of a crime other than a traffic infraction. All candidates must submit references from their high school faculty or administration and from members of their community who are not a part of the high school. All selection criteria will be directed towards selecting members with a sincerely held desire to become productive, caring, and responsible citizens through exposure to opportunities they might not otherwise realize and through exciting programs that help them to forge lifelong friendships, hone invaluable social skills, and explore career interests that align with personal interests. All members must support the programs, activities, events, and initiatives of the organization.
No. Fraternities and sororities are Greek-letter organizations. The words "frater" and "soror" are Latin for "brother" and "sister". Generally, fraternities are only for males and sororities for females, Pharaohs Society, Inc. does not discriminate in its membership on the basis of gender or gender-identity. We are a brotherhood-sisterhood organization. Our members will be called "brothers" and "sisters".
No. Only high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors can be considered for membership with Pharaohs Society, Inc.
Members of Pharaohs Society, Inc. are called "Pharaohs".
A Pharaoh was a ruler of Ancient Egypt (Kemet). The Pharaoh was the political and religious leader of the people and held the titles ‘Lord of the Two Lands’ and ‘High Priest of Every Temple’.
A female ruler of Ancient Egypt (Kemet) was called Pharaoh.
Pharaohs Society, Inc. is not a fraternity or a sorority. It does not use a pledge process or an initiation ritual. The induction ceremony is a public orientation to introduce new members and their families to the organization. The induction ceremony helps the organization retain its talents and permits new members and their families to learn about the organization. Only Faculty Advisors or National Officers will be permitted to take part in the induction ceremony.
No. New members will not be required to take an oath. However, new members will be required to agree to the Code of Conduct of Pharaohs Society Inc., which includes but is not limited to:
All chapters will be chartered through the National Office, all Advisors and Volunteers will be screened by the National Office, and all members will be screened by the National Office and the local chapter. In addition to the local programs, activities, and initiatives, each local chapter will be required to engage in at least one National Program per academic quarter. Our national programs, activities and initiatives include:
Programs, activities, and initiatives must be approved by the National Office and the high school. A proposed schedule of activities must be presented at the beginning of each academic year.
Pharaohs Society, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation organized and existing under the laws of the State of North Carolina. We are organized as a tax-exempt nonprofit corporation under Section 501(c)(7) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Yes. Your donations and contributions to support the programs, activities, events, and initiatives of Pharaohs Society, Inc. are given to Pharaohs Foundation, Inc., a charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Your contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
Pharaohs Foundation, Inc. is the charitable organization that primarily funds the programs, activities, events, and initiatives of Pharaohs Society, Inc. Pharaohs Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation organized and existing under the laws of the State of North Carolina. Pharaohs Foundation, Inc. is a charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Your contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
No. Pharaohs must meet and maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.60. However, grades are just a factor in the selection process. Pharaohs are selected based on their leadership potential, desire to become successful in life, commitment to the service of others who are less fortunate, and acceptance among their peers. Pharaohs are our future leaders, and they must demonstrate the ability to become role models.
No. Pharaohs Society, Inc. does not discriminate on the basis of religion. We are not a religious organization and we encourage members to adhere to their ethical, moral, and religious convictions.
No. Gender and gender-identity are not factors in the selection process. All selection criteria will be directed towards selecting members with a sincerely held desire to become productive, caring, and responsible citizens through exposure to opportunities they might not otherwise realize and through exciting programs that help them to forge lifelong friendships, hone invaluable social skills, and explore career interests that align with personal interests.

Yes. As a brotherhood-sisterhood organization, all Pharaohs will be considered brothers and sisters. There will be opportunities for competition among chapters in academics, athletics, and fitness. There will also be opportunities for competing in debates and mock trials. Conventions will be held on local, state, and national levels. Virtual meet-ups will provide members from different chapters a judgment-free environment to discuss issues germane to youth today.
Yes. One goal of Pharaohs Society, Inc. is to influence high school students to strive to reach their full potential. Any student who is declined due to academic or disciplinary record may reapply during the next induction period if they meet the requirements.
Yes. Pharaohs are expected to maintain their grades and to adhere to the Code of Conduct of Pharaohs Society, Inc. Pharaohs may be placed on probation or suspended for failure to continually meet membership criteria. However, we will continue to work with such members and may offer tutoring and mentorship.
Yes. Members of Pharaohs Society, Inc. may be expelled for various reasons, including but not limited to conviction of a crime, repeated school disciplinary action, suspension or expulsion from school, and engaging in conduct otherwise unbecoming of a Pharaoh that would tend to tarnish the reputation of the organization.
Any high school student may volunteer with Pharaohs Foundation, Inc., the charitable nonprofit corporation that primarily funds the programs, activities, initiatives, and events of the Pharaohs. They may also participate in programs, activities, initiatives, and events sponsored by Pharaohs Foundation, Inc.
